Rolling In The Deep End!
Cor it's been a while! Sorry about that!
So I've started gigging again properly now after my 5 months of being locked away in a beach hut writing songs. And i am so happy to be back on the road because it's my favourite thing!!
And it's all gone off with a bit of a bang! Last week was.. eventful...! Everything seemed to go wrong- railcard lost, oyster card stolen, alarm not going off... but it all turned around when on Sunday I was lucky enough to help run a songwriting workshop at The Sustainability Centre in Clanfield. It was the perfect setting- there we all were, making music in big wooden yurts in the middle of the south downs, huddled up next to a roaring fire. I didn't actually realise it was going to be outside so silly me turned up in my tiny dress and heels, but this was all brushed aside and rectiified after everybody very kindly donated various blankets and jumpers and socks! Thank you. Anyway, it was beautiful. And in the evening, after everyone had played me their lovely music, I gave an intimate gig in the yurt while eveybody snuggled up, wine in hand, with the crackle of the fire and the glow of the moonlight keeping us company. Times like this I realise just how much I love my job. Thank you so much to Di Elle who arranged the event and for all the participants who helped to make it so special. Then yesterday my bank holiday weekend got even better- I played at Petersfield Spring Festival in the afternoon and AMAZINGLY the sun came out for my set! Then in the evening Iain and I headed down to Lily's on Hayling Island so I could sing at Lilyfest which was in aid of the Meningitus Trust. The people were gorgeously warm and the atmosphere was great- and I believe they raised over £1000 for the cause. It was an honour to be a part of so thank you to the organisers and in particular Jill for being so hospitable. I even managed to have some sneaky wine at the end of the evening when we were 'forced' to stay inside the bar while a slight disagreement was being resolved outside! Looking forward to making a return visit!! So I've had a great weekend, and it just goes to show that anything can be turned around. The week was a test, and nothing seemed to go right, so I kicked it in the crotch and got on with concentrating on the weekend, which was fantastic!
Got lots of fun things coming up this week- Swindon on Thursday, BBC Cambridgeshire on Friday and writing with Loz Bridge on Saturday! Please check out www.jazzmorley.co.uk/gigs for all my upcoming shows- would be great to see you somewhere along the way! I've got some new songs too which I'd love your feedback on.
Anyway, thanks to everyone who has recently joined the website- I'm also on facebook if you fancy saying hello! The address is www.facebook.com/jazzmorley.
Lots of love to you all- have a great week!
