The 'Please Don't Love Me' Ballet!

Sam Sheridan, a second year Arts and Media student, approached me in February asking if he could create a video for my song 'Please Don't Love Me' as part of his university assignment. I was extremely flattered at the request, and, when he told me the ideas they had for the theme, I was intrigued!! Thank you Sam for conceiving such an innovative and inspired idea and for allowing my songs to be seen with such a fresh perspective.

Here is what he had to say...

"I directed Please Don't Love Me with an amazing cast and crew. I'd like to thank everyone who is involved; the DOP James Stewart who was my partner in making this video, The Gaffers Daniel Goodall and Tom Whetmore with the help of their Best Boy Gary Dean. The stylist Tadhgh Sheridan did a great job, the Editor Daniel O'Dwyer did a brilliant job with what he had and to the Camera Op Jamie Buckingsham. I would like to give a huge thank you to the dancers Daniel Taylor and Louisa Barnard who took time out of their busy schedule to make this video possible with the help of the choreographer Rachael Corner. Plus the drivers Gavin Withey who also did the photography, Rowan Poulter and Diego Fuente who helped out a lot and finally a massive thank you to the National Trust for allowing us to use Little Ponds and thank you to Adam Coleman (landscape gardener) for lending his generator to us so we had power.

I believe the video was a massive success, with all the time and preparation that went into making this video. The cast and crew working for free was brilliant and a massive help. We originally had the video in colour but I believed that the colour affected the emotion of the video so I decided to change it to black and white which make its more emotional and the music fits with the mood."

Stories like this really excite me. People wanting to work with music to create something special for them and those around them is such a fantastic thing. I have always been, and will always be a huge pioneer for art and creativity. Please keep the ideas coming!!!!
